Hours of Operation and Volunteer Assignments
Project workers and building supervisors will be on site 7 days/wk from 7 AM to dusk
(approx 5-6 PM) starting Oct 16 and continuing through Feb 08. Volunteers only will be at the site during Christmas Break (12/18-1/3/08). The site will be closed Thanksgiving week 11/20-11/27) and Christmas (12/24-12/25). Volunteers can set their own schedule and must check in each day to receive their work assignments.
Weather
Work will continue rain or shine so please check weather.com as your travel dates approach for updated information. October can experience warmer days in the high 80’s and evening/early morning temperatures in Dec and Jan can be in the thirties. The average temperature range for:

Restaurants
There are several fast-food chain restaurants in Waveland (Sonics, Waffle House, MacDonalds and Burger King) as well as many local establishments which serve reasonably-priced dinner fare including Mexican, Burgers, Seafood, and Pizza. The Hollywood Casino serves a nightly buffet for $17.99 from 4 PM until 10 PM.
Medical Emergencies
Hancock Medical Center, located approximately 10 minutes from the work site, is a fully accredited, acute-care facility with emergency and outpatient capabilities.
Local Shopping
Located near the intersection of Highway 90 and 603 (approx 5 min from the work sites) are Walmart, Rite Aid Drug Store, Home Depot, Lowes, and several gas stations.

Directions to Building Sites (from Hollywood Casino Hotel or LPC)
800 Block of Combel Ave
Head west on Hwy 90 (Sharp RIGHT at the shopping center lite by Burger King)
Continue for approx 2.5 miles to the intersection of Hwy 90 and 603.
Turn LEFT onto Nicholson Ave (Rite Aid on the corner)
At first STOP sign, turn RIGHT onto Old Spanish Trail
Turn 1st LEFT onto St. Joseph St. Turn 2nd RIGHT onto Gulfside then LEFT onto Combel.
Hancock and Taranto Lots
Head west on Hwy 90 (Sharp RIGHT at the shopping center lite by Burger King)
Continue approx 3 miles and turn RIGHT at the lite onto Waveland Ave (CVS on the corner)
Approx 1 mile turn RIGHT onto Maple St (just before the train tracks)
Continue beyond the church to the two lots on Hancock (on the left) or turn LEFT onto Taranto to the two lots on Taranto (on the right).
